In the sentence in the expansion, it says ”你怎么还不回家“ 。 If the sentence were " 你怎么不回家”, I believe the best English translation would be "Why don't you come home". The original sentence has a 还 in it and I think that this really just adds emphasis that it's late ; I don't think that the 还 can be translated into natural-sounding English, in this particular context. So unless you or someone else can prove otherwise, I still think then end of that original Chinese sentence should be translated as "why don't you come home?"
My main point is to say that I think the verb should be "don't" instead of "haven't"

December 28, 2011 at 3:25 PMI'm wondering if the 6th sentence in the expansion section could be translated a bit more accurately. The original sentence is :
"都十二点了，你怎么还不回家？“
The translation is :
"It's already 12 o'clock, why haven't you come home yet ? "
I'm wondering if this would be a more accurate translation :
"It's already 12 o'clock, why don't you come home ? "

December 27, 2011 at 3:44 PMThe character 哎 is always confusing to me, because I always hear it being read with a pinyin sound "ei" , but then always see "ai" written as the pinyin.
哎 doesn't sound close to 爱 at all, it sounds like 黑, but without the "h" sound. So why is it always transcribed as "ai" ?
