susana9,

There are two lesson series with multiple lessons each: renting an apartment through an agent and designing the new apartment. I think you will find them rich in what you are looking for. Just click on the lesson tag for "apartment" in the lesson information section in the upper left.

@ erik, 我是好奇,为什么你说新疆是中国的希腊?是因为新疆的经济发展 不如东边吗? 还是新疆政府乱借钱了吗?你觉得中国中央政府没有足够的管理新疆的财政吗?

I have seen it labeled as hell banknotes, or notes from the Bank of Hell. Probably would have been better translated as Hades. I don't think the Chinese in America believe they are sending money to their relatives in a biblical hell. Thanks for the tip on 冥钱, I learned a new word today.

I think the Swiss will be very surprised to hear that their currency is obsolete.  Last I heard the 瑞朗 was alive and well.

rich,

Taiwan's currency is normaly called 台币, but 新台币 is a correct term. I don't know the history of the currency.  Presumably they had a re-denomination at some point.  Even the "new" Taiwan dollar got re-issued, as I found out when I went to Taiwan with some money from a trip a few years prior and was told it was not accepted and that I would have to go to a bank to change it.  I suppose it was an anti-counterfeiting measure, but it may have also been aimed at flushing out some ill-gotten loot.  I havent' listened to the podcast yet, but I am curious about 美金。 Reminds me of one of the names for San Francisco, 旧金山。 I wonder if Chinese were enticed to come to California during the gold rush with promises that gold was everywhere, and so they naturally assumed that gold was the common currency of the US.

Happy New Year, instantcalmer,

I guess it would be:

我要 一张 一百块的 移动的充值卡。

wo3 yao4 yi1zhang1 yi1bai3 kuai4de yi2dong4de chong1zhi2ka3

but now I'm not sure. do we need kuai4? (Its not in the dialogue)

should 的 be in there twice? (...一百块的 移动的...)

I think you could swap, (a 100 China Mobile card OR a China Mobile 100 card) but I have a hunch one will sound more natural to a native speaker than the other.

I thought your question was easy at at first, but now I think its a really good and tricky question so I hope somebody at CPod will answer.

ilfak,

I know what you mean. I really miss those video based lessons. I hope CPod would consider doing them again, at least once in a while. Jenny was so great here. I'm sure she is telling wonderful stories to her little one now.

If you haven't already, go have a look at some of the vocab tour and menu stealer video lessons. Also fun, though not as great as this "classic."
