I see the current ChinesePod newsletter cites foot massage as a way by which the writer learned vocabulary: the example cited being 痛。 ("pain" or "hurts"). So I rest my case. But seriously folks, I have seen Chinese massage places popping up in shopping malls in the US. So if you see one, get out there and practice your Chinese! Maybe a nice foot massage will even make your holiday shopping more pleasant. Certainly more memorable. 呵呵。

Yes, that was home for me many years ago, and I still enjoy taking the Amtrak Auto Train down every once in a while. I'm sure you will do well wherever you move to. Where you are now its a good place to be from, but I couldn't see myself there today, even in retirement. Times change though; I was surprised to learn from you that there is even a Chinese school! ; )

The secret word for today is 汇率。 At least I guess that's what you meant. Yes, it does seem odd that it's in the graphic for the lesson, but not the vocabulary list. Maybe this is just a lesson on cosmetics. kkk

I think Ross Allen's reptile world is not there any more (it was around Ocala if I recall). I was thinking of you today because I bought a copy of Grizzly Man on DVD. I have never seen it, but Werner Herzog is my favorite director. I saw on the news there was an alligator cruising around the Wal Mart entrance in Apopka a few weeks ago. Are you moving away from Florida? Think of all you will miss (in the animal kingdom).

Ah yes, the Chinese foot torture. That which does not kill us makes us stronger. Oh, sorry, its just "enhanced interrogation." I got some chemical goo that probably doubles as rust remover at the shipyard smeared on my legs during one of these therapeutic treatments. As the searing pain began to set in, they asked me " 烫吗?" I wonder how to ask in Chinese exactly how much pain is "normal."

Some friends of mine had a swimming with manatees experience in Florida and really enjoyed it. I suggest you try selling your daughter on that idea. Or maybe take her to see Grizzly Man. Wild animals do deserve respect.

Sister Boom-boom, Nun of the Above. 她的所谓地位的笑话不能过翻译。
