March 6, 2014 at 9:37 AMI used the Mandarin Popup add-on in Firefox with great satisfaction, but the advantage of the CPod provided popups was that sometimes you got a context specific translation more relevant to the lesson.

March 6, 2014 at 9:01 AMMaybe it depends on your physical location, and therefore which server you are accessing.

March 5, 2014 at 9:44 AMI am in the same position: my subscription ends next month and I will not be renewing either. I got an e-mail explaining that I had "violated the commenting policy." Well, yes, it was not a comment specific to the lesson, but if they are going to delete comments on that criterion . . .
I was also requested not to mention services that might compete. Interesting that on competitors sites you can see lengthy robust discussions among users comparing the pluses and minuses of their cite versus CPod. But apparently such discussion is no longer tolerated here.
Its really sad, especially considering all the off-topic blather that I and others have littered the site with over the years, that comments relating to learning Chinese would get singled out for censorship. And it's ironic that the people like you and Adam that have made genuine contributions to the other users by raising useful questions and posting important vocabulary over the years are being treated so shabbily.

March 5, 2014 at 8:37 AMAdam, I guess you noticed that ChinesePod has a new way of dealing with customers' expression of dissatisfaction on the discussion board: deleting them. After all these years as a loyal user, I never thought I would see the day my comments were censored on ChinesePod. Well, if our posting privileges get permanently revoked, its been nice knowing all of you fellow students of Chinese.

March 4, 2014 at 3:38 PMIt seems that a lot of the old time users are being driven away. Its a pity too, because people like you made a lot of contributions to other subscribers with your many informative posts.

March 4, 2014 at 9:48 AMWhy is CPod doing an "infomercial" instead of using News and Features to explain the new web site changes? Bizarre. And yes, Pleco works great. Haven't tried the other one so can't compare.

February 26, 2014 at 12:57 AMI have realized that the user experience of Chinese Pod depends a lot on where one is located. For example, video lessons that can be accessed in China are not available in the US. And the page for the "Team" shows differently in different parts of China. I guess somehow their servers are not properly synchronized.

February 26, 2014 at 12:54 AMI think you will find Chinese people to be very understanding and patient with visitors trying to learn Chinese.

March 6, 2014 at 11:25 AMAs your question implies, its a matter of age difference, so you probably can add "小" in front of their surname. But maybe the question you should have asked was "how do I ask them what they would like to be called?" Maybe a CPod counselor can respond.
