Good question. This structure is a 特指 (tèzhǐ) . It emphatically points out something noteworthy. If there is only one item, you can leave out the measure word.
Ex: 这孩子真聪明 -- This kid is really smart.

摘 is a good word to know. But most Qing Wen listeners are Newbies and Elementary learners, so we try to keep the content relatively simple. We didn't teach 摘 because it's not as broadly used as 脱. You can say 脱帽子, for example.

Thanks very much for your warmth and enthusiasm. I know that many Chinese appreciate the complexity and delicacy (the so-called 婉约派, gracefulness） of later poetry, particularly 宋词. But I'm personally relectuant to judge the poems in this way, as each era's work has its own merits and literary significance.
And as for whether this poem is beautiful, I must say I disagree with your teacher. Not all poetry is wine and roses. And many of the most beautiful of the love poems were written by drunken guys in brothels. The real world, with all its blood and cruelty, can be a source of artisitic inspiration, much as a lotus can bloom in a muddy pool ;-)

I can't remember the exact name of the poetic device, but that Williams poem about the wheelbarrow has an interesting charactersistic-- each stanza looks roughly like the subject of the poem, the wheelbarrow (a Chinese invention, by the way). e.e. cummings also used that poetic device.
I don't think bill was necessarily seeing a connection between this Han-shan poem and that one, though. Anyway it's often hard to retrace the connections that our minds form among memories and works of art.

In this case, I had defined 炒鱿鱼 as "squid," when of course it is “to fire someone," or literally, "to fry a squid."
I like your idea, but the problem is that even if I posted something on the board, people who didn't visit the board might not know. And it is not really practical for us to send personal messages to everyone.
The best solution is to get the translation right the first time. I will discuss alternatives with the rest of the CPod team.
