i feel people would look at me all the time if i ate with my left hand....it is not just china ..a couple of years ago an indian in dubai got angry at me for giving him money with my left hand,,,,
and yeah ..try using chopsticks with your left hand and you will know that it aint easy to change hands to do some things..most right handed people from western countries struggle with chopsticks so i am rightfully proud of my chopstick use which is according to chinese very good,,,,i have even heard people say i was zhong guo tong on seeing my chopstick ability...a chopstick master...even plastic chopsticks,,but if i really want to show i am zhong guo tong i like going to a xiao long bao restaurant and eating them in true chinese way...sucking the juice out of the bao and then eating them with my chopstick in one motion...truly a chopstick master

January 27, 2010 at 3:30 AMi am left handed and most places in china peoples initial reaction is to laugh when i go to write something..it is something you get used to but it is very bad manners in my eyes to laugh at someone for being different ,,,the probel of being a leftie is you by habit like to pick up things in you left hand and offer things to people with your left hand and in many countries this is seen as impolite...i am very aware of this and am constantly watchful of myself to use my right hand more...also i worked for along time with power tools etc and it was a real problem using drills as they are right handed design and i was always accidently hitting the lock on switch and not able to control turning tools on and off....the thing i am most proud of is my skill at using chopsticks right handed...i take great pridei n that..to get that skill didnt come easy...and i coldnt imagine living in china eating with your left hand....because i use both hands alot to do different things you could say i use both sides of my brain more so than others...only joking...lfties forever
