June 29, 2010 at 7:25 AMHorrible grammar changes have become mainstream for generations. Anyone have a problem with the word "childrens?" Can't have a double plural, can we? Well, actually, it is a triple plural, as children is a double plural already. It just happens on accident, we can't help it. 买办法。
I probably use "on accident" occasionally, but "by accident" sounds better to my ear if I am thinking about it.

June 22, 2010 at 5:20 AMThanks connie! I don't understand why I would change 签 though. Does is mean change my contract... A plane ticket being a sort of a contract for a seat on a flight?
I'm glad I asked... I would have never thought of that on my own!

June 21, 2010 at 4:55 AMWhat if it is not such an immediate situation and you need to change your tickets. How would you say that?
我需要交换航班票。怎么办?
Posted on: Doing the math with 算 (suàn)
June 20, 2010 at 4:10 PMSo I've been watching Dr. Who with Chinese subtitles... At one point Amy says that things are fine... ish. The subtitiles say “算是” which nciku says means "at last." Another time in the show 算是 is translated for "sort of."
But based on the sentence 他离得很远,所以不算是我的男朋友 I amost get it. She was saying the situation counts as okay. Even though it is not quite okay.
对不对?

June 10, 2010 at 7:02 PMsorry! Thanks for catching that....
hā! Shì zhēnde. Duì wǒde kànfǎ, zúquí hěn yǒuxiàn de yìsi. Kěshì, zúquí gēn měiguó de zúquí bǐjiào hǎo... měiguó de zúquí méiyǒuyìsi. (Zuànshí yě méiyǒuyìsi. Kāfēi, lìngyīfāngmiàn, fēicháng hǎo!)
Ha! It is true. From my point of view, football is of limited interest. But it is better than American football... American football is of no interest. (Diamonds also are of no interest. Coffee, on the other hand, most excellent!)

June 10, 2010 at 6:41 PM哈!是真的。对我的看法,足球很有限的意思。可是足球跟美国的足球比较好... 美国的足球没有意思。(钻石也没有意思。咖啡,另一方面,非常好!)

June 29, 2010 at 2:03 PM没事!我只做感情夸张的说法。
What I was going for here was: "I was just being dramatic." What would be the proper way to say that?
