Do you know the expression "Di shui chaun shi" Having listened to this lesson. I feel I am crossing the bridge from Newbie to Elementary. Thank you. Mervyn

Amber - thanks for that - I cant download the pinyin chart as I'm in the cheap seats! (ni mingbai wo de yisi?) By the way here is another question regarding possession. We say 'Shanghai de jiaotong' but ' yingwen shu' and not 'Yingwen de shu' What are the rules, if any, for possession in Chinese.

Liked this one - I had a thought so I'd like to run it by someone. Words that have the same 'e' sound like qian, yuan, mian, tian, dian, jian, nian You would think they should have an 'a' sound, like in 'huan' sounds like the Spanish name. (juan) Why is that ? Is there a pattern?

nàlǐ and zheli - when do they go at the beginning and when do they go at the end of the sentence? Also wanshang is a time locator - it always goes at the beginning, right? Is there some sort of rule I read somewhere? Any help would be welcome xie xie

Been working from a book and CD for the last few months and came across your site. I sampled this lesson and fell asleep with ' wo yao mai' ringing in my head. Xie xie. See you in Shanghai.
