Now that's pretty pitiful, but let me now, at least, say thank you for all you did at ChinesePod. You made it a great place to hang out. I listened to your podcasts every weekend and enjoyed learning about the language and Chinese culture from you, your cohosts, and your guests. May you enjoy success in all your endeavors. January 7, 2009 at 6:23 AMI tend to like these "impractical" lessons more. Actually it speaks alot about culture that all these terms like 老天爷是长眼睛的, 天无绝人之路 and such survive. This is the kind of learning that interests me. As Pete and John have remarked, I still remember lots of words from the science fiction pieces...and I use them too. You learn more when you are having fun. Enjoyed the music background and sound effects and yes, those actors sounded dry of throat. I'm for a sequel or two...lets have it be a series. Great start to the new year ChinesePod!

Those 倾城倾国的美人听说很危险。不知道日本男人应该不应该为杨贵妃悲伤。Also, I'm glad you came to have an interest in 汉语音韵学. I enjoy your contributions to the study of it.

这两首是我喜欢的唐朝诗。
They come across the ages expressing human sentiments that I feel today.
...The men of the past are gone, but the water is still cold today.
....The bees and the butterflies have all gone over the wall, apparently spring has moved to the neighbors.
The Tang dynasty was an incredible period in the history of China. It is hard to sum it up in so few words, but worthy of much study, maybe especially in these days as the world faces so many problems.

January 2, 2009 at 3:39 AMJenny, Changye, with all the nervous talk, I was somewhat nervous to push the button to start the lesson. I liked the sound effects!!!! Very dramatic lesson... so few words, but such drama. Great lesson. Thanks to all involved.
