Sorry, it wasn't hating math but hating numbers that people claimed, which is like hating Chinese characters and although I love (most of) them, I understand the fear and loathing after all.

Half of us loves 数独 and like Barry spends too much time on them instead of Chinese. But what's this about hating math. Isn't that like saying you hate Chinese (language)? Math is just a kind of language, a way of organizing thoughts and developing new ones. I can understand being afraid of math because sometimes in these upper intermediate lessons I freak and think I will never learn to understand this, but hating it? Never!

B&Q is reputed to be more expensive but worth it because it is 可靠 (reliable) and you can return things.

B&Q is like Home Depot only much better, more variety, more upscale stuff, even those toilet seats that wash you! We loved it and wanted to buy lots of things to take home. We did buy door stops, better than we could find back in the US of A..

I thought it was called "The Fix" because it was for us Chinesepod addicts that needed a fix to get through the day.

Lantian, Thanks for the great new word: 欺负 almost as good as 无聊 BTW, we think every bit of apparent hostility, like Ingmar's, must be 开玩笑 because we poddies are all such good humored fun loving people. Right, Ingmar?

If we were Peter, we would tell Li that we worked for such a big important company that we couldn't afford to do business with a company that doesn't pay required worker benefits, because the publicity would harm our image and raise an international outcry, but if he could change his policies, we could buy from him. That way, Li wouldn't lose face, Peter wouldn't sound holier-than-thou, and he might help the workers. More likely, in the future Li would just tell Peter what he wanted to hear and continue to do what he had to to make a profit. Unless he got scared by what happened to the finance minister when the contaminated pet food scandal got out. Meanwhile lots of good words and phrases in this lesson.
