Posted on: Ordering a Steak
May 3, 2007 at 10:24 PMRecently, I moved to a new cubical and the former occupant left behind his his chinese menu. I'm having a blast picking out the characters and recognizing a bunch just from this lesson alone. From this lesson, I've also figured out that 牛奶 (niu2nai3, milk) is more specifically cow's milk. As opposed to mother's milk (hanzi/pinyin anyone?). Are other kind's of milk available in China, for example, goat's milk? Is milk consumed much in China? It seemed to me that butter was not.

May 2, 2007 at 2:32 AM我很喜欢拼音和汉子在拍。 I really like the pinyin and hanzi in the picture. Brilliant! I just finished studied another lesson on ordering food and this one just showed up. You're reading your students' minds.

May 1, 2007 at 11:16 AMHi Jenny, I know this lessson is over a year old, but it's definitely a classic. I use "请(qing3)" for "please" so often that I forget it also means "to invite". Thanks also for the "不起(bu4qi3)" constructions for "can't afford"; this will be very valuable for me next time I'm at the silk market in 北京.

May 4, 2007 at 11:43 AM很美的音乐。可以说漂亮的歌吗?很好听。 Colors are wonderful parts of our lives. And music is an entire set of colors in and of itself. You've done a great job connecting up a billiant subject in a lovely setting with a beautiful medium. So relaxing and engaging. My avatar is what my morning in Delaplane, VA looks like while studying this lesson.
