^_^ Got it. In the lesson plot the actors seem lost in a forest. When that movie came out it received *a lot* of press because it was so different. Whenever I hear "lost in the forest" my brain evokes that movie.

Being lost in a forest, reminded me I never got around to see this movie, hard to believe it's been more than 10 years. According to IMDB it grossed almost $250 million worldwide, from an estimated budget of $60k.

Good lesson, thank you. The "Unlocking King" bit (开锁大王) bit was pretty funny, I didn't know.

啊哟!她在温网第二轮中错过了两个机会赢比赛!但她的对手很厉害,拥有190km/hr发球!反正,体育媒体很喜欢李娜性格,幽默感,笑容。

Great job interviewing Nick, Catherine, nice to know him.

In our office here in Shanghai, people are *very* productive. It's really hard to keep up with them. There's a 餐厅(dining hall) across the street and everyone gets a monthly allowance. Average lunch time is maybe 20 minutes, definitely less than 30, followed by 5 minutes or so of QQ-ing/web-surfing, then back to work. Their naps are just that, 15 minutes at most. Normally working hours are 8:30-6:30, but as deadlines start to come into the picture, 6:30 becomes 7:30, then 8:30, and so on.  Saturdays, and sometimes Sundays, people work, too, even if the government doesn't mandate that they do so (as it sometimes does). One time we were all there on a Saturday, and at around 3 PM the server froze and everyone's work stopped. I took it as a sign from above to go home and catch a movie, but someone saw fit to call the boss, who came in and reset the server. We kept going.

When we are within a couple of weeks from a project due date, we have 20-minute meetings every couple of days to make sure we are on the right track. As everyone is pretty drained, at the end of each meeting someone leads a chant. 一二。一二三,一二三四, 加油!! 自己给我们有一点鼓励(Give ourselves a little encouragement) ^_^

Out here QQ is the defacto mode of written communication. We have email but we almost never use it, except to go outside. If the administrative assistant needs to send an announcement, she uses QQ. To exchange files, QQ. And of course, 表情(emoticons), which are awesome. Some companies allow MSN and not QQ and some neither.

Good point, we don't call it face but most of us definitely mind if we are yelled at or ridiculed in front of co-workers.

This is the dating show John mentioned, towards the end of the article he mentions 乐嘉 (Lè Jiā) and his "Four-Colors Personality Analysis", or FPA. In Chinese, 性格色彩, I think.

FPA

Original. I can't make out the last two characters in each circle, can anyone?

当寻找其他的信息碰到这个二十五前常用性和名。

Ran into this while looking for something else. The 25 most commonly used surnames and given names in China, by year, over the last 15 years. I would have guessed 王 and 李 were 1 and 2 in surnames. In given names, 雅婷 has been at the top for 9 years running.
