估计不到，means 估计不足，failed to bring it into consideration beforehand,underestimate. 我估计不到这次战斗的困难，I underestimated the hardships of this battle.

自豪, proud,in most cases it's used as an positive word.

Well,I hold a radical opinion on this case.

Literally,that father sent his daughter to US in the name of study and found an American custodian for her. But I will deem such behavior as if he's abandoned her beloved kid, because it meets up the definition of the word 'abandon': "leaving a person to the place where you don't want him/her back."

That father must be a tough person or an aloof one,for most parents ,they want to see their kids as much as possible when they are at home and want to see them as soon as possible when they go back from work.

How can a life without those smiling faces be?How can you endure the loneliness of living in an empty house without kids around?

I don't get it.

If the whole family moves to the US, it will be a different story.
