<<杜拉拉>>目前还没有英语版。我挺希望以后有的。否则外国人看到的中国当代女性形象只有<<上海宝贝>>。

Yes, it is 拔丝地瓜 ba2si1 di4gua1/caramelised sweet potato in the picture that Luke posted. 拔丝 is a very popular way of preparing dessert in the north. They do it with everything from apple to pineapple. I remember for my 5th birthday, my daddy tried to make it at home. Sweet memory.

Thank you! You can't use 跟 in sentences that express distance or time. Stick with 离.

Thank you for starting a great discussion around level and content. Food for thought for everyone. It is very interesting to see your very different responses to the different type of content. It is extremely helpful for our lesson creation.

Yes, your request has indeed come up many times (mikeinewshot's comment). We have acually made a list of words and phrases I often use in my explanation. But we have put it off for too long. I have just scheduled the recording next week. Gotta get it done!
Thanks!

I think 马萨诸塞州 is the most common translation. But certainly doesn't roll off one's tongue.
weibwo,
Thanks for your very informative comment. But it highlights a sad truth, most people still go for the name. I guess it is like buying cars. A Toyota might be perfectly fine, but most people aspire to a Mercedes.
