Great point about reciprocity. It is a corner stone in our value system. We have this concept of 人情/ren2 qing2, which literally means 'human relations'. But essentially it's social debt. We define favors and act of kindness as debt which you should repay.

The defining feature of the Beijing drawl is the 'er' sound added to the end of a lot of words. John calls it 'piratified'.

It should be 以...为重, meaing putting something as a priority. 以...为中 is wrong.
