if you want to use 不,
then the expression would be 想炒我,不是那么容易的。
i am native Chinese, i can assure you, both are correct and perfect Chinese.
the general difference between 不 and 没 is, 不 is used to negate subjective intentions, attitude, while 没 is used to negate objective narrative, fact etc.
for example:
yesterday he didn't come.
yesterday he wouldn't come.
he won't come tomorrow.
because his coming tomorrow doesn't even occur, it's not a objective fact.

February 17, 2009 at 8:33 AMseems that the monk poet is pessimistic about the humanity. in the peom above, he says the people in the world is stupid and ignorant, greed, lecherous, cruel like wolf; don't distinguish btween good and evil, just like pig and sheep. don't see his own fault, just like pig lying in the sty; don't know to pay off the debt but laugh at the ox that is working on the grind.
Pete, why not add some beautiful peoms like those about romance, such as Li Shangyin's
anyway, good job.

February 17, 2009 at 8:01 AMhi Pete,
this is really interesting channel.
I think it would be helpful to attach another one or two similar poems by the poet or other poets to compare them if possible, since there are lots of them and the text is not long.
I agree with changye, the poet's poetry is full or Zen wisdom. the pig probably is a metaphor. you will realize this if you read another poem by this famous monk poet.
Sān jiè rén chún chǔn,liù dào rén mánɡ mánɡ。
Tān cái ài yín yù,xīn è ruò chái lánɡ。
dì yù rú jiàn shè,jí kǔ ruò wéi dānɡ。
wū wū ɡuò zhāo xī,dōu bù bié xián liánɡ。
Hǎo wù zǒnɡ bù shí,yóu rú zhū jí yánɡ。
ɡònɡ yǔ rú mù shí,jí dù sì diān kuánɡ。
bú zì jiàn jǐ ɡuò,rú zhū zài juān wò。
bù zhī zì chánɡ zhài,què xiào niú qiān mó。

February 17, 2009 at 7:36 AMhi changye,
thank you for your reply.
actually I am a Chinese majoring in Teaching Chinese as a second language.
FYI, as I've learned,春,人,身的“韵”是一样的,因为押韵只跟韵腹和韵尾有关,跟韵头无关,chuen, u is 韵头,e is 韵腹,n 是韵尾,可以不管韵头的。
similar rhymes are allowed.

this poem is fully rhymed,
qin,ren,shen,chuen,
luan,san,han
changing the rhyme is ok,
and this poem was composed more than 1000 years ago, the phonetics is also different

February 17, 2009 at 3:19 AMhi all:
IMHO,it's about wisdom, buddha, not bloody at all.
probably you've heard that Chinese (especially cantonese) almost eat everything, and nearly most part of pig is edible and delicious for Chinese.
the point is the last sentence. the poet, a monk, hopes for peace, humanity, no blood and cruelty.

February 19, 2009 at 3:03 AMlet me explain for you.
the fouth tone is used to show that the spitting is unautomatic/unconcious, and mostly used in oral context. the second usage is about giving back the seized property, also used in spoken language.
an example from a popular song
