BTW: Today I learned "In the doghouse" and its different usages and as as supplementary vocab: "In the cathouse". Highly useful stuff.

seem to be very close in meaning (and on top of it sound slightly similar).
Is there a difference between those two or can they be used interchangeably for "unrefined" / "vulgar"?
