For instance, "fan club" is more relatable than "fandom" for 饭圈
Likewise, 吃瓜 is a short form for 吃瓜群众 ("onlookers who are interested in the spectacle but don't have anything knowledgeable to say about it")

May 13, 2017 at 9:31 AMVery well explained! Directional complements have always intrigued me - thanks for explaining the concept of shifting perspectives of space. Now I understand when people say 坐下来 when they mean "please sit down". I always thought it would be 坐下去.
