May 25, 2009 at 7:33 AMHi guys, great lesson ! I was slightly confused by the sentence that was translated as sth. like ' Every single time there is no outcome', because just by listening (and before it was pointed out) I did confuse 没 with 每...If I wanted to say 'Every time there is an outcome', would it be 每次 instead of 每一次 ?
Posted on: About Face! A Multi-faceted Look at 面子
March 19, 2009 at 9:42 PMGreat lesson ! I like the personal (and hillarious) touch of conversations like the one on Pete's mobile phone. I also like the fact that QW is discussing a lot of cultural aspects nowadays. I wasn't aware that 面子 is that negatively connotated. I really thought of it more like 'respect' in general...I would have come up with situations like praising someone publicly as giving him or her face and criticising someone publicly as making him or her loose face. Just my random associations, anyways...

March 3, 2009 at 10:28 AMHi, could the QW-crew maybe list all the ways of saying 'to take off' accessories (those from the lesson, such as ring,...) here in the discussion section ? I know some expressions were already mentioned, but I think I am still missing some others...

December 3, 2008 at 1:24 PMHey guys, great lesson !
请问给我介绍 '三明治'这个词. Can I say it like that ? If I remember correctly Connie once praised Clay for his sandwich making skills, which must mean Connie has a Western sandwich taste, because I don't think Clay's food taste is that Chinese;) I was wondering what he might be up to these days...
The best sandwich I ever had was a turkey sandwich which came in a basket on a bed of fries and really was a burger. That plus the free coffee refills...soo good:)

October 14, 2008 at 5:58 PMpearltowerpete, good luck for the next marathon, and for the one in Xiamen ! I still think in that heat it is a pretty extreme thing to do...but since marathon seems to be a 'hard-core' experience anyways;)....I admire you people for your strength of will. I myself never even go jogging because after 5 minutes I keep on thinking: What am I really doing here ? :)))

October 14, 2008 at 10:23 AMHi guys, nice lesson ! In the supplementary vocabulary section I think 讲座 is given as a course of lectures. I have looked up 'lecture' and would like to know if 演讲, 讲课 and 大课 are more or less interchangeable?
Posted on: Are You Happy, Content, or Delighted?
May 31, 2009 at 8:26 AMI just thought about it and I really think QW is like the greatest show ever ! I would like to see more of important verbs compared in a similar way than it was done in this episode, I think there have been QWs like that, so pls. keep those coming ! One little question, is 开 怀 (kai1huai2= very happy?) used more in written Chinese ? I came across it in one of my textbooks recently...
