The expansion sentence 你在哪个公司实习？ is translated as Which company did you intern at?. I am struggling with 'le' and absence of 'le'. I would have translated this as 'Which company are you interning at', and added a 'le' if I wanted to refer to a completed internship in the past. Can anyone help clarify this for me? Many thanks.

And I have to confess that my light-hearted remark was simply based on an impression gained from Chinese pod dialogues, as I have yet to set foot in China and know almost no Chinese people :-( Thank you for reminding me in your kind way that maybe I should avoid even joking generalisations (especially uninformed ones). I do like the way the Chinesepod community always help each other to keep discussions civilised -ooops, another generalisation :-)

September 19, 2012 at 9:39 AMSo how do you know this guy is not Chinese? His name? The fact he is studying Mandarin? No, the absolute giveaway is that he admits to 有很多时间 (you hen duo shijian), and is neither 很忙 (hen mang) nor 很累 (hen lei)!

September 19, 2012 at 9:27 AMThe expansion sentence 他有几个孩子？ has been translated . How many children do you have? not that I suppose it matters at elementary level. Maybe I shouldn't mention tiny typos of this sort. I enjoyed this lesson, but am surprised not to see it spark off great discussion amongst poddies about how much or little they study :-)

September 6, 2012 at 5:51 PMI had this problem today, but discovered that I just had to click the tab at the top of the page to choose between traditional, simplified and pinyin, and the exercises reappeared. Perhaps I had accidentally erased some vital cookie. Hope this works for you guys too.

Is it just me or do other people have a problem with the exercises page? I just get headings and no exercises. This is not just for this lesson but any lesson I look at today. I have tried on two different computers. Otherwise, thank you for another useful lesson. Daena

November 2, 2012 at 8:02 AMYes, that is what I thought, but the translation given by ChinesePod was 'Which company did you intern at?' However, I now see that the translation is no longer available when you click on the sentence'你在哪个公司实习？'. I assume, therefore, that the translation given by ChinesePod was incorrect and as now been 'fixed'. Perhaps I am not quite as far from understanding the use of 'le' as I had feared :-)
