It is not as difficult as you thought actually. I started off knowing nothing about cantonese 3 months ago but with good grasp of chinese vocabs I managed to master that dialect. So it's all boils down to determination to learn.
Please see my previous postings in cantonese which were really bad.
My mother tongue is Hakka not Cantonese.
