January 23, 2011 at 5:59 AMBaba, Thank you for your friendly words. Yes you are right, maybe I misread it, however I do not see anyone else make that mistake : )
Enough Cpod distraction for me, I should go back to my Chinese studies haha!

January 23, 2011 at 3:56 AM入乡随俗, after 3 years in china, I'm a great haggler and great lier :-)
Actually I prefer to call it it the Chinese truth. For example, when I buy a bag it is Chinese leather (plastic), when I buy jewelery it is Chinese crystal (plastic), Chinese silver (plastic+lead) and so on.
My point is, I think in China this is considered not a real lie, altering the truth / perception is a paradigm (everyone knows and accepts lying is common in doing business), this is what works for (most) Chinese. And you will not change that.
Don't get upset, you will be cheated on many more times, but this is all part of the experience and the price you pay for your Chinese education :-P

November 23, 2010 at 11:29 PMI love accents! Have been living / studying Chinese in China for about 2.5 years and never heard / met anyone speaking perfect Putonghua (not even (北京)teachers at 南大 / 南师大). Also I am very proud of my little Nanjing accent that sometimes shines through! Here is where I learned the language and have a special connection with this particular area! More accents please! :)

January 23, 2011 at 2:21 PMThat makes me happy: it is not 对牛弹琴 as a smile was what I aimed for in the first place. I 'm afraid sometimes my sense of "humour" is lost / comes across wrong here hahal!!!!
