March 7, 2008 at 2:16 PMHi changye, yes, you are right, it is hard to remember the lyric of rap music. I wonder that do you know Jay, chou? The pop star from Taiwan, China. His songs are very famous in the young generation here although sometimes it is hard to catch each word in the lyric. Jay always sing unclearly and that is his song's character. And matthiask is right. Karaoke is very popular here. I often go to KTV with my friends! You can look at the lyric and sing. Whether you are good at singing or not, just have fun!^_^

March 6, 2008 at 3:24 PMAuntySue and shagrat, I was not used to type pinyin before. we get used to type each word's pinyin separately in China. And i should admit that i was puzzled by those pinyin without tones sometimes. You know, a pinyin can have several characters to match in chinese. Such as, ta=他/她/它; shui=谁/睡/水/税; there are many examples alike. So i think it is important to add the tones when you type pinyin. Otherwise, it will take time to guess the meaning sometimes.:-) when it come to QQ, i just want to mention a pop saying “潜水”qian2shui3. 潜水original meaning is dive or diving, but in this QQ context it means 隐身yin3shen1. 隐身means that someone who hide and pretend to be offline.

March 7, 2008 at 3:03 PMChangye, For me, it is easy to understand those ordinary pop music ,ballades and folk songs. The understanding is basis on the context. Each song has its own context like a short story. But i should admit that sometimes i will also miss some words when i listen to it for the first time.
