1. 怎么 can be why? how? or what?

2. 把 is used here to invert the 太 阳 and 涂成 - this places emphasis on the object 太 阳

3. I think that 涂 would work without the 成, but they work together as well. (I also think that the sentence is a little ambiguous.) I don't know about 'painting on a printed image'; I gather you mean changing the sun from one colour to another. Maybe, but more likely the person being spoken to has just painted a scene with a yellow sun. With the act of painting the sun in the picture 'becomes' yellow. I think if the painter had 'changed' the colour of the sun you would use a verb like 改 gǎi.

Just my thoughts.

I think that xiao_liang should be given the job of reviewing the protocol for giving poddies credit. :)

[Maybe both you and richnirish suggested the same thing?]

This is useful, thanks guys.

Can the degree of certainty suggested by 会,and 要, be modified by words such as 大概,很可能,当然,一定, 等等?  dagai (probably), henkeneng, dangran, yiding (all certainly)

大概我要去北京 (I will probably go to Beijing).  Changing a 要 plan to a 大概 。。 要 probability.

And:

他一定会死的 (He will certainly die).  Changing a probability 会 to a 一定会 certainty.

John - I love your relativist analysis of the forgot/left debate; I was left tingling with excitement. It's positively utopian, bucolic even. Actually the best word is hippy.

I don't like Google searches as a research method though, not unless they prove my point of view. :)

I think it is just the Chinese habit of taking one of the characters and duplicating it. (I cannot get used to the Chinese habit of saying, in English, reduplicating - a tautology if ever I heard one.)

“油烟机”和“抽油烟机”和”吸油烟机“的意思是一样的, 对吧? 都可以说。

After 58 minutes, England 1, Slovenia 0.  England has had 30 shots at goal without success.

Soccer is a funny game - the rules are more obscure than in Rugby Union but perhaps this doesn't matter because nothing much ever happens.  They seem to give a yellow card if you fondle the other guys shirt and a red card if you make a successful challenge on the ball.  I think that hairstyles are more important than in other football codes.  But I love to watch a few World Cup games because of the drama.  Ooh aah Africa.

PS. I think that this lesson is a beauty.

Interestingly, you might find 主持人 zhǔchírén in the dictionary for project manager - but this is the anchor on a TV program. The CCTV 5 commentary on the World Cup is chaired by a 主持人.

I would go for 管理人 rather than 经理 - the latter sounds more like a general manager rather than a project manager. Just my thoughts; I haven't checked 'on the street'.

That does look a nice spot - I have not been to Fujian but I would like to find the time. But is the sand soft and fine like on an Australian beach? :)

No swimmers - maybe there needs to be a critical mass before they want to go in? Or .. many Chinese adults have never learned to swim - that reduces the likelihood of people getting in the water. I remember watching people in the water at Leshan - almost everyone, all adults, used some kind of floatie (basic life preserver.)
