我最喜欢的家常菜是茄丝面。你最喜爱的是什么?

wǒ zuì xíhuān de jiā cháng cài shì qié sī miàn. nǐ zuì xǐ'ài de shì shénme?

@JasonSch thanks. I was secretly hoping that tone of voice was only reserved for the four tones. Unfortunately not. :)

Just wondering what (other than tone of voice) makes this a question:

飞机公司
nǐ yīxià fēijī jiù lái gōngsī le?

If I'd just come across this I wouldn't have realised this was a question.

I never did take to the Green Tea icecream or any other icecream in China, but I do love their fruit lollys. I think they call them "ice sticks" or something. I'd definitely look out for these during the hotter months.

@go_manly

I know what you mean about not wanting to breach CPod's copyright. I would like them to facilitate the sharing of resources between fellow students. They would then be able to restrict sharing to those who have the correct membership.

I have so far held off even sharing decks of flashcards for that very reason.

But, as a techy, I'd love to know a bit about the tools you are using to generate the pdfs. Can you give any insight on your workflow without actually sharing the finished resources (or any of your own trade secrets).

I am one of those 老外 (lǎo wài) who always looks back at my academic years and wonders... "What if I'd actually done any real work?" Now though I look at both the Chinese and the Western approach and feel there are clear benefits in both. Picking the best of both is going to be a difficult challenge in itself.

So, to make up for lost study time at school I sat down to do the exercises for this lesson. But, as Ken says, any excuse and I'm allowing myself to stop. In this case though, the excuse is that section 2 of the exercises appears to be blank.

@go_manly: What an awesome dictionary. I'd love to know a little bit about how you put it together. Do you mind if I link to it from my blog? Many thanks for sharing.

A couple of examples are:

  • Decks of cards for popular flashcard software
  • Videos
  • Vocab lists
  • Examples of phrases/words in common use
For each of the lessons, I turn the vocabulary and expansion sentences into flashcards. I know several others create useful resources as well. I would love to share them with the ChinesePod community, but in doing so would make subscription content available for free.
My idea is for ChinesePod to give us a place to share resources for each lesson. That way we can put resources in a place where they will be useful whilst at the same time being sensitive to the ChinesePod subscription model.
I welcome comments on the idea: http://tr.im/clsh

I'm wondering if anyone can explain why there is an 啊 at the end of many of the expansion sentences. I was trying to pronounce them out loud only to be asked why I was putting an 啊 at the end of the sentences.

The explanation we could come up with was 啊 = !
