Chris,

I know exactly what you mean.I think this is quite akin to the tetris effect. For those not familiar with that term ,it is explained here.

Pete,

I really like your comment about seeing characters in the cracks in the sidewalk;lol.I'll be sure now to look out for them.At least I know I won't be alone [see tetris effect reference ]...

ps I wonder whether the monks doing the ultra slow walking [that you mentioned in the podcast ] saw characters in the cracks.Actually,in sooth,I think there must be so much that can be learned from their lifestyle and practices such as meditation.I would love to hear more of this sometime;about your insights etc.I'll think I'll just go and listen to the podcast again. Thanks again.

great idea vikram;I'll second that notion. And I think all the CPod staff will have to sing.I'm pretty sure I heard Amber say she's particularly fond of getting up and belting out a tune.

I was very interested in Pete's experiences in a Buddhist Monastery in Taiwan.I remember before I vistited Taiwan in 2006 seeing an episode of Lonely Planet/Globetrekker on TV [Hong Kong and Taiwan 2005] where the presenter Megan McCormick stayed overnight in a Buddhist Monastery in Puli in central Taiwan and was woken at 4:30 am for prayers. Her comments in that show led me to believe you could go and stay there.I would have loved to have had such an experience but alas couldn't fit it in to my schedule.I'm not sure how readily available such an experience is but would love to know more about it.Thanks Pete [and Amber] for this fascinating discussion.

Wow;so cool to see where it all happens now.Apart from the great view I also love the layout which looks mostly open plan and does indeed make it look like a big happy family.Surely Ken and Jenny weren't really in the middle of recording?

In the expansion section well you roll your mouse over the words in the 5th sentence it translates 理发店 as hair stylist ,but I would have thought this meant hair salon.I'm sorry if this has already been pointed out.

Interesting that jia1 is used as the classifier here in the same sentence.Calls to mind how some posh retail outlets will sometimes call themselves "the house of ...."

Does this make sense?:

中国人差点儿就懂我的中文

Chinese people almost understand my Chinese.
