I have heard the fire version but always saw it as just a variation on the original Aesops boy who cried wolf story.I always thought it was well known.

rj,I agree with your comment about validation.I also like the repetition,and knowing the story certainly helps[though I would be happy with both well known stories and some Chinese childrens stories too as this would be very interesting...but would have to have written translation if they were to be used].I wouldn't look at the transcript either till I had worked it out for myself,but in the end the transcript would be great.But a lot of work has gone into this and I'm just very happy to have this channel with or without,but agree a transcript would be an added bonus.

Awesome;bed time stories! yay.A whole new channel.Great expression and gesticulation Jenny.I loved the format.The boy getting swallowed made me laugh;well done.

Btw,what is the story? I almost missed this one.I am subscribed to everything and so I always go on the me tab and only go on the lesson tab when I want to look at old lessons,so I only discovered this lesson by accident when looking at the community section.I have subscribed now but it still hasn't loaded in the me section [but I presume that's because the lesson only loads there if you're subscribed beforehand and the next wts will go in there now?].I went back over the last news and features and there was no mention of it there.But don't get me wrong ;I am not complaining.I'm very chuffed that there is a new channel and am particularly pleased with this one.I love surprises too ,so I don't expect it to turn up in news and features.Just glad I didn't totally miss it and wondering if I missed out on some flag I should have noticed.

In the expansion I noticed re4 for hot is similar to ri4 for sun.Different pronunciation,and different character,but the similarity still makes me wonder about a common origin.The ri4 is making me re4.

I was thinking about parents addressing their offspring as either "erzi" or  "nuer" commonly in China and wondered whether this may have been partially an effect of the 1 child policy.After all if you have say liang ge erzi,which one is being addressed becomes the issue.

I really enjoyed having a lesson that involved dialogue with kids.It makes it a more rounded experience and would love to hear more lessons involving dialogue with kids.Perfect for newbie/elle level too.

I find it very handy to carry a small bottle of an alcohol based hand gel on me while travelling.

Got any recommendations on good Chinese songs to run to? I love running to good music.I have a mate who ran in the Great Wall marathon but I didn't realise there was a marathon held at Taroko Gorge,though now that I've heard it ,it does ring a bell that someone had mentioned a run there [I was with a local tour group when I went there and the tour was totally in Mandarin and I spoke even less at the time] and it stands to reason that such a run would be a marathon as it is a very long way in and back from the coastline.Though the Gorge is very steep ,the road is not ,but I'd still imagine it would be mostly uphill one way and downhill the other way.I agree it is a stunning spot and a must see.It would be an awesome spot for a marathon.Once again it was great to get your stories here;jia1you2 Pete !

I love the Qipao dresses;hen piao4liang.I think that Amber and Jenny should also post photos of themselves wearing their Qipao dresses and I believe there would be a popular demand for this.My wife has 2 but I won't be posing for any photos in them any time soon.

When I first heard the dialogue I thought chi1 hao3 was going to be another way of saying tasty [same as hao3 chi1] as I've noticed with a few words you can transpose them thus,but obviously not in this case/context.

I was very interested in Jenny's comment ,which followed on from Ken's comment that being over profuse with the pleases would seem unnatural ,...would seem distant.Can you provide further insight into this way of thinking?
