You're right mate.We had a real spate of trolls at the end of last year come on the site before you joined and it makes one suspicious of any claims made about age or intent,but I agree one should give the benefit of the doubt.If this truly is a 7 year old then we should be kind and supportive.

Not too much at all.On the contrary,your analysis once again opened these simple poems up and brought so much depth and meaning.Lovely to hear the instruments played too.Were they sound files from the internet or did you actually have someone play these ancient instruments?

April 7, 2009 at 1:43 AMI spy Ken's Irish influence in applying Murphy's law to the dialogue scripts such as in this case everything that could go wrong with printing cards.Certainly makes for good dialogues as you then have the language to deal with all possible problems that could eventuate.
One personal concern I've had for a while since listening to intermediate lessons is this.The more vocab I come across the more homophones I realise there are.Obviously with the tones this divides the number of what may sound like homophones by 5,but even so,the number of homophones of say shi4 seem much more than English.I also notice this when typing hanzi and you can have 27 or more characters to chose from.I suppose when the characters are combined with another in making it a 2 or more character word it should get more specific,but especially for single characters I'm wondering as I come across new vocab if I would pick up what it was if I didn't have the lesson vocab tabs etc to reveal all.Obviously context also helps,but I'm still wondering about how I'm gonna determine which shi is being used etc.
Love the 要么。。。。要么 pattern.I presume this is a bit more specific than the English either/or as in this case it seems to be specifying that you want either this or that demand to be met.

April 7, 2009 at 1:32 AMMinor point which I haven't noticed previously.John,your voice seemed to have some echo in this lesson [not a big deal but ever so slightly distracting].Also,on the recent welfare lottery lesson,it's great having realistic sounds such as in this case the telly,and in other cases phone conversations,but I think it's important to have the volume balanced as I found the telly a bit harder to hear.
