joncui,

..because I posted before thinking ,and was a bit thrown 'cos I can't read the hanzi at the moment [and thus thought I'd wait till I can read the hanzi before making any further comment],but realised it was basically an old euphemism for what you'd expect it to be;i/c

Ellie lesson sounds particularly interesting. What are they thinking? Also good to continue the pregnancy series.

Great to have guests on the show. It's lots of fun having these competitions and great prizes.

Good tip about late booking of plane tickets. However when I was in Taiwan I decided I wanted to pretend I was on The Amazing Race and rocked up early one moring to the local airport to try and jump on a plane to go off and see Taroko Gorge. To my dismay they had all just booked.[I'm sure if they ever let Aussies on the real amazing race it'd be a different matter though.Perhaps I could team up with the menu stealer. He looks like he's up for anything, and has a turn of speed,or was that just special effects? :D].I managed to book a flight for the next day however.

Hope you get better quick Jenny and get that decent break :)

With day 3 after the wedding being under this pressure, and then day 3 postpartum being a common time to come down with baby blues, its surprising 3 didn't become an unlucky number in China, even though it seems to me that many of the superstitions around numbers seem to revolve around the phonetic similarity to other ominous words like 四 and 死.Maybe after day 三 they were ready for si.

muushi,

Good idea.I'm also wondering if many Chinese restaurants now have their menus online.I suppose the smaller affairs won't but what about the more prominent?

ps Of course the good thing in all this is that you have 20 potential language exchange partners right on your doorstep.

Calkins,

You needed to quote your ordinary [higher] price first and then point out with your above revised quote it was mates rates.
