Note this bit: "Submited to vera.zhang on 0000-00-00. "...which has the date reset to the dawn of time or something, hehe. Not sure if that helps or not.

...hehe, yeah, I was thinking about it at the time. I guess it's so idiomatic that any translation isn't likely to involve a sock. Yeah, I've heard those other expressions, but they just sound so to the point, not idiomatic like the sock one.
最好静一点儿...那么客气 [so polite], especially in comparison with 闭嘴
