thanks Bill. One thing I've noticed about Chinese is that it can sometimes be less obvious when a persons name is being used. Anyhow,thanks mate for bringing this one up..it's a goodun.

I'd love to check out your book collection changye;sounds awesome. Have you interpreted your own or anyone else's dreams using this book?

Perhaps we should set up a new group where we all post our dreams and you interpret them for us [?changye's chimeras or mengyi with changye]. Changye....long night ...seems suddenly to be a very appropriate username.

...I'm really surprised that you would think tourists would be thinking this way. Now obviously you live there and that's one reason I would store a lot of weight by what you think about the topic and your impressions and I personally have no experience in this area so I'm not speaking from any specific knowledge.So when you say:

..this ,while news to me,does not surprise me. Not saying it's right or it should be this way [quite the contrary] but this does often happen in countries [eg the Irish apparently joke about Kerrymen, some Aussies joke about Tasmanians, I think there are similar situations in the US in a couple of areas ..or more]. Personally I celebrate differences and would be one of the big incentives for travel,so if Yunnan is quite different and has a lot of ethnic diversity then I would say it makes it very appealing to me..not something that needs to be made more "palatable" and while yeah,I am often off on my own themes, I don't think I'd be alone on this one [though I am aware of some folk who strangely go overseas and then want to find all the food ,deng deng just like it is back home].

Many people these days have a real interest and appreciate the differences

。。yeah,even in English there are different shades of meaning with important differences...namely strange can often be used in a negative way to describe something that's not right..wierd and out of place.Alternatively it can simply refer to something that is unfamiliar...even intriguing perhaps. So my interest in strange things is this latter. These are things that are interesting.

prone to singing in public

..thanks for confirming what I suspected mate;namely that:

"People sing rather than speak"

..is a gross exaggeration.There is a world of difference between being "prone" to singing songs,and singing "instead of" talking..the latter making it sound like not just songs but like everyday speech has been replaced by singing. Still ,it does sound like shangrila....like a wonderful musical with folk unexpectedly joyously breaking out in songs.

公 is what I'm not too sure of here. 我感觉你的意思应该是the public can call me in a week....call me in a week [ week public call me ]...in other words you think it'll take you a week to recover from jet lag and we shouldn't expect to see your face in public till then....is this what you're saying bill?
