June 8, 2011 at 1:43 PMok, well I've just looked it up, and if we were to assume that this dialogue was set in 2010 [big assumption I know] then 10th october was only 2 days after the new moon, and so moonset was at 6:17pm on the night of the 9th and moonrise wasn't until 9:12am on the morning of the 10th and thus there was no moon to be seen during the likely hours we are discussing [after 11:30pm till dawn]
of course, I don't think the year is stated, so we could work out which year we had a full moon on oct 9/10...but I think I"m getting side tracked on something I'm not right about anyway.

..oh, I knew that it could also be read as zhao for morning but I didn´t realise that John had made a comment about it. I´ve only properly listened to the bit up to the dialogue so far. Were there any other clues in the discussion? I should listen but it's getting late and besides, I've just got a new toy I'm playing with.

June 8, 2011 at 12:45 PMyeah, I thought about the ambush part though I don't know they'd need hours though. I'm not comfortable with the far bit....distance was one reason the whole 朝阳区 was thrown into doubt and it sounded like this forest park was much closer. I still think you've probably nailed it there and that the rush at 11:30 was for dramatic effect, hehe, and they're just super keen

I think you may have completely nailed it. The only thing I'm not sure of, while I like your reasoning behind 5:18am, is why they were in such a hurry at 11:30pm
