July 12, 2011 at 4:35 AMI must say I don't quite get John's comment:
"Well if there's no-one there it's burglary"
...I thought burglary was more related to the fact of breaking and entering, esp your home, and that's why it's worse than just the theft as your home is invaded and if you are home it could be quite threatening [as you are there ...may wake up and catch 'em]. I guess often in the case of burglary it may be that no-one is there if it's daytime and folk are at work, or in the middle of the night folk are asleep and the burglary is taking place in a different room. I guess they're trying to be sneeky and get away with it rather than like purse snatching..perhaps that's what John is getting at.

July 12, 2011 at 4:08 AMthis is to stop the above post showing up in the comments thread where the blacking out doesn't work and could be a spoiler if I'm right.

July 12, 2011 at 4:05 AMAnother possibility:
It could be the magician has used fake fingerprints. Perhaps the smoke is related to burning the evidence then of the fake fingerprints...the materials used, or it could be the smoke is from the process of making the fake fingerprints...to do with the glue involved or something.

July 12, 2011 at 3:02 AMI'd like to ask xiaoyou a few clarificatation questions. For example, when she reports:
鲁富确定当时他的房门是锁着的,之后也没发现门被撬动过的痕迹
..the room was locked, I presume this means when he went to the toilet he locked the door and then he unlocked it when he got back. Why you'd bother locking the door but leave a window open [from the internal hallway into his room I presume if I have the picture right] I don't know, but it may have just been careless I guess.
I also presume:
之后也没发现门被撬动过的痕迹
this refers to after he returned to his room, unlocked the door, discovered the diamond was gone, and then recalled that there was nothing unusual about the door when he got back [it was still locked etc] and that it was after the discovery the diamond was missing that he then went and checked for any trace that the door had attempted to be pried open [because you wouldn't be checking before you knew the diamond was missing]. Perhaps he thought that someone could have neatly pried it open and then locked it again without any obvious sign when he came back?

July 12, 2011 at 2:49 AMhmm, looks like the blacking out is showing up nicely on this thread but doesn't show up on the community list of all conversations. So at least this post should drop the above comment out and avoid a spoiler in the off chance I'm right.

July 12, 2011 at 2:48 AMAnother possibility, again blacked out [roll over if you want to see] to avoid a spoiler:
of course the circus may be in trouble in these tight financial times and it could be a fraudulent insurance claim ...the forensics may have been slack and not taken laoban lufu's fingerprints [who may be the guilty party and could easily pass off his fingerprints on his own table as to be expected]. I'd go and xray the lions tummy I think
