September 22, 2011 at 4:55 AMXuzhou,
xiexie. I thought it may well have something to do with Xiaoyou, but the trouble is I could see very little reference to dates in any of the episodes. We mainly just have the publication dates of the various episodes, but of course they are not part of the story. There is the first lesson where she has just graduated, but we're not given a date on that.
I do note however that we are given her first name [her mingzi de ming]. Interestingly this is Li but not the same Li as in Li tanzhang. I'm not too familiar with Chinese naming traditions, but I do wonder if she is related to Li tanzhang all the same [as stated above, whether she is a long lost daughter...or maybe even granddaughter]. Anyhow, I'm not sure if her mingzi gives us any clue to her birthday. In Christian tradition, sometimes kids are named according to the patron saints day they are born on or near. I'm not sure if the birthday has an impact on name in China?

September 21, 2011 at 4:12 AMthis bit gets me, when 徐洲 at 18:26 says:
“我想啊可能有的听众【sounded bit like qingzhong, but I would expect it to be 听众 but I digress]已经知道答案”
。。and John agrees.
"已经"...so it's meant to be pretty obvious then, and you should know by the time you've listened to that point first time around. Heck, 很明显 I'm missing something mingxian.
我要知道谁已经知道了?
反正,Are any of my guesses getting close to the right track?

September 19, 2011 at 11:51 PMI guess it could be the date of one of China's special festivals which may hold some family significance for him. Mid autumn festival perhaps. Moon in kewang.

September 19, 2011 at 11:25 PMJune 28 [628 or 286]...when Hawaiian shirts were first advertised. Devised in the 1930's by a Chinese Merchant...a relative of Li tanzhangs. If he has or had family, maybe they are in Hawaii. He can't go there for some reason.

September 19, 2011 at 10:58 PMJune 6th [066 or 606]...3 months prior to part 1 of this final mission, Black Cat started playing up. Perhaps Li tanzhang is Black Cat and he's finally cracked due to the distress over having lost his family, which was on a June 6th. The first 2 letters were decoys to lower the guard, but his real intention is to blow up the school his only child attended...it was through some act of negligence on the schools part that he lost his kid [through death in an accident, didn't prevent a kidnapping, or were so tough on the kid that he/she was driven to suicide]. This might explain why this is Li tanzhangs final mission. XiaoYou will out him, have him arrested and step into his role.

September 19, 2011 at 10:28 PM229 or 292.....February 29th...which is perhaps Li tanzhang's birthday also or a member of his lost family and is what helped him crack the Bloody Love triangle case. It might explain why he helped pay for the funeral. Also might explain why he wears old fashioned shirts...stuck in the age his birthdays would have him at.

September 19, 2011 at 9:58 PMthat 109 or 910 guess above refers to the Detective Li and the mysterious text message episode where he blurts out "oh no, what's the date today?" . It was October 9th. Of course it made perfect sense as he'd cracked that case and realised there was little time to catch the crooks, but maybe XiaoYou on reflection thought there was more to this "oh no" about the date than their need to hurry and catch the crooks. Seems pretty unlikely though, hehe.

September 22, 2011 at 5:46 AMwell both characters in Li tan have mu...10+8 so I guess it could be August 10th or 8th october, 108 or 810, but I'm not sure how these dates tie in.
