June 25, 2012 at 12:31 AM中毒 was taught in this lesson:
http://chinesepod.com/lessons/computer-problems-and-tech-support#discussion-tab
and then in this lesson:
http://chinesepod.com/lessons/reinstalling-windows
..so you might find some discussion there interesting.
The origin of the term "computer bug" came about back in the 1940's when a moth got caught up in a computer and caused problems.
The term virus came into use in the mid 80's to describe such computer programmes because of their self replicating nature
A trojan I think is a reference to the trojan horse story...the way they sneak in with other programmes.

June 24, 2012 at 1:57 PMI think it's 都 which would also make sense, but I'm not certain mate. Here, while it doesn't add anything extra to the meaning or your understanding, it adds emphasis to John's question...it's like " why do these two BOTH have to be added"
"How do you learn how to pick up words spoken so fast?"
...good question, and one that is an eternal struggle....but I do think it gets easier with both just plain old listening practice but also a recognition of patterns of speech...it becomes easier to almost predict what's going to be said to the point you don't really need to hear it clearly...like here a dou just slots nicely in as it's often used for emphasis like this. Furthermore, often its the same little culprits that sneak in there in the fast staff...I think there's a limited number of usual suspects, hehe.

June 24, 2012 at 11:44 AMthanks for your message Zhen and for your good wishes. I was thinking when I saw that comment at the time that I couldn't imagine buying individual lessons taking off [thinking of just one at a time] but if you could select the lessons yourself in a group then that may work. Let's hope they offer it as it would be great to see you hanging around. DON'T GO !! Jiayou...

June 24, 2012 at 11:41 AM“FB, one obvious advantage would seem to be that people are way less likely to be rude, sarcastic, complaining or otherwise generally negative there.”
。。。well that's an interesting comment. I rarely use FB so I don't have a great feel for it and haven't noticed that myself from my limited observation [note...just saying I haven't noticed it...not saying I disagree...it's all to do with how little I've used it..if you've noticed it you are no doubt right]. I'm wondering why you say that, and why you think it is so

June 23, 2012 at 9:19 AMhey Rich, do you look after the IT side of things for the new openlanguage site? If not, who to contact about technical problems there?
