忘记 and 忘了 are "forget".
忘记 and 忘 has the same meaning, you can say 我忘了 or 我忘记了。
Note that it is not interchangeable, it depends on the sentence.
O 我忘了吃饭。
O 我忘记吃饭了。
X 我忘记了吃饭。
