September 22, 2010 at 9:36 AMThank you for this lesson. Over the past few weeks our Chinese 102 teacher has been telling us about this important Chinese holiday. Yesterday she apologized that she couldn't make any mooncakes to bring to school for us to taste because she is so busy with her teaching schedule and taking care of her family. I guess I will have to wait some other time to actually taste a mooncake! She did say that we could buy some at Chinese grocery stores here in the Washington DC area, but they are expensive.

September 13, 2010 at 10:01 AMI really enjoyed this diary series; it made me eager to go to the next lesson to see what happens. I will miss those crazy kids. Will ChinesePod revisit them to see what they're doing now or do another diary series? Or will I have to go to the next level for another diary series?

September 12, 2010 at 12:56 PMThis was a tough elementary lesson as the expansion section has a lot of new vocabulary I hadn't seen before, such as to smoke--xiyan--吸烟, non-smoking area --wuyanqu--无烟区, which made me wonder what smoking had to do with the topic of using the Internet for personal reasons while on the job! Yes, I agree that it was harder than the usual elementary lesson.

September 12, 2010 at 11:29 AMKen was funny and I do miss him. I am listening to the older Elementary lessons which cover the same topics in my Chinese 102 class, such as Directions, Weather, Dining, Shopping, etc. and he is in those. Sometimes I chuckle when he says something humorous and one of my fellow passengers on the commuter bus or subway will look over at me, probably wondering "What IS she listening to?" Chinesepod does help to make my one-hour commute each way to my language classes very bearable!

September 12, 2010 at 12:21 AMNi hao: Is there any difference between using 肯定 (kěndìng) from this lesson and 一定 (yídìng), which I learned in my Chinese 102 class?
Xie xie.

September 5, 2010 at 1:31 PMHello, what is the difference between "nage--哪个" in this lesson and "neige"-- same characters--which is in another Elementary lesson, Do You Know that Girl?, which I finished last night. I hadn't seen "neige" before, have just been used to seeing "nage" with those characters, and so am very confused. Xie xie.

August 30, 2010 at 1:20 AMI myself don't mind hearing the same CPOD actors as they are from the Mainland and so I can hear accents different from that of my Chinese 102 teacher who is from Taiwan. As I move on to the next class, my next teacher most likely will be from Taiwan too as the majority of this school's Chinese language teachers are from there. In fact, in my mind, I actually have two teachers--Jenny Zhu and Chang laoshi!

August 25, 2010 at 9:52 PMHello, in my Chinese 102 class today our teacher was telling us about the Mid-Autumn Festival and the stories/legends and food related to it. I tried to see if Chinesepod has done a lesson specifically on this festival but couldn't find any. Is it possible to produce a lesson on it (not sure which level it should be). It would help us learn more about Chinese culture and customs. Xie xie!

August 21, 2010 at 5:41 PMThank you very much! What a nice surprise to come back from vacation and see that Qing Wen covered the topic I suggested a few weeks ago. And my husband got a kick out of hearing that his family name is "chuizi" in Chinese, although I'm not sure of the characters. I think they would be 锤子.

September 22, 2010 at 9:41 AMBodawei, my husband also has celiac disease so he misses out on a lot of food the rest of us can eat and can't go to certain restaurants. But he manages to get plenty to eat anyway :-)
