I think you might mean 冰淇淋.

The dictionary says both 冰淇淋 and 冰激凌 are correct.

I've checked the first four audio clips in each of the Dialog, Vocabulary, Expansion, Grammar and Exercises tabs, and they all work for me.

Yellowbridge gives the definitions

菲 (fēi) luxuriant (plant growth); rich with fragrance; phenanthrene C14H10; abbr. for the Philippines

菲 (fěi) poor; humble; unworthy; radish (old)

I'm not sure how any of those definitions come close to 一定要. Perhaps you mean another character??

"Knackered" - Wow, that sounds decidedly non-American. Was this word used to appease the whingeing Aussie?

Revolting creatures are cats. One night I'll cruise the streets and rid my neigbourhood of this vermin.

This is the image I see when I think of cats.

Actually I'm hearing 2nd tone. At least its much closer to 2nd than to 3rd. The main comment I would make Keth, is that you seem to be making such an effort to stress the tones that your sentences are not flowing with a natural rhythm. Personally, I would get the rhythm going first, then worry about the tones.
