The Sidney Lau romanisation system was developed by Sidney Lau, the principal of the Hong Kong Government Language School, for the radio series, "Cantonese-by-Radio", which was broadcast during the 1960s. It is an adaptation of the Meyer-Wempe system. If you google him you will get hits.

Ah, got it, Big damn crabs it is. Somehow I just don't find the idea of eating the eggs appealing.

Actually my wife just reminded me that we have the first full scholarship Soccer academy in the US - the Premier Soccer Academy, just minutes from my house. This was started by Brad Friedel, who plays for Aston Villa and has played for the US national team. He is ranked as one of the ten best goal keepers in the world.

Hello Helios

I was just being difficult, but I don't think it will ever match American football in popularity. To be honest, I very seldom watch any sports.

hehe, glad to hear you dont call it football. This football thing is just a conspiracy to make it sound more interesting and a sly way of disrespecting American football. Socceroos????. Oh boy.

Soccer will never be  popular in the US. It is percieved as (to put it nicely) not manly enough. It is therefore popular among adolescent females and the mothers that support their teams and drive them about in mini vans are called "soccer moms".

Now rugby I have tried to understand recently but the rules are so strange that chance seems to often determine the winner. Perhahps that is how the Springboks won the cup, with no real talent? Maybe go_manly can help me here.A scrum for instance, whats a "tug of war" doing in a football game? And every tackle includes a mandatory fumble, to be run off with by someone else. :-)

Keep em honest Go_Manly. John, you have a pit bull on your pant leg and I hope he never lets go. :-) Why is it that you keep your threats (dashboard) but not your promises?

This language is absurd, and I think the SH folks are very proud of that. Wonderfully and uniquely absurd.

Shouldnt the title be "darn big crabs"? Anyway they are good, but I have only eaten the male version. There evidently is a difference and some folks have a decided preference.

Oh no, say they didn't change the China Mobile recharge recordings. :-( I always got a chuckle from the child like voice that said:

"wait for while" and "the operation has been successful". It always sounded like one had just gotten out of surgery, or the Frankenstein monster had just been completed. You have to wonder why they don't hire a native English speaker to proof this stuff in the first place.
