Sounds like Dilu has a mean left hook. I could just see John covering his face as Dilu animated all the descriptions of the various punches.

That joke was actually funny, now that I know what scrumping is. Good job. Ive not had much luck with the Chinese using self deprecating humor. I dont think they get why anybody would risk losing face on purpose? Any experience with that?

Actually what Im trying to say is why be offended? Standard English depends on your perspective (location). Be glad you have the opportunity to learn new things. I have been introduced to countless Australian, British, and even Canadian expressions on this forum and am grateful for the knowledge. Even if it does sound strange to me. Most can be divined by context, and if not, there is always Google. Learn on.

for computer software it comes from re-sign up as in subscribe again. On the street drug dealers re stock up on goods for sale. Re-up for short. In College we would make beer runs to re-up our beer supply. It is standard English. You just arent a standard English speaker. From where I sit anyway. Google re-up and its all over so must be pretty standard. You need to get out more. Take a trip. Have a beer. Relax a little.

I believe homophobia can be considered a subset of xenophobia.

according to Websters:

xenophobia is the unreasonable fear or hatred of the unfamiliar.

well I suppose by definition, a hetero male should not find homosexual behavior appealing, but tolerance is a different matter. You should not confuse the two.
