July 12, 2015 at 4:20 PMI think that I have it locked in better than the first time that I watched this video. It might take another viewing to really solidify the concept. And, of course I'll have to practice this with my Chinese friends in some pretend scenarios, since I don't live in China. Though, if I understand correctly, one can use this to refer to less tangible objects. Either way, this will take more practice than other things I've studied, since the differences are so subtle.

July 11, 2015 at 6:35 PMOh, I do have a question that NEEDS to be answer, eh. There's something that Constance (Sorry if spelled the name wrong) says when she begins to talk about the lesson or starts to give an example. It "sounds" like she says bie shuo. Am I hearing that correctly? Is she saying "Don't say"? I hear this a lot on the radio too. Please help. It's such a common phrase in the QingWen videos, but I can't decipher what it means. Thanks!

June 8, 2015 at 9:49 PMNo need to have an argument. Besides, they always translate the dialogue without the background noise. It's good to listen with the background noise to acclimate your ears to the language as you will hear it in multiple environments. It's okay if you can't understand everything because of the distracting noise. Age matters not. We all experience this problem at some point in our lives. CP does well in giving us authentic dialogue with a noise free version with translation. That's where you can really tune your ears and learn the new material. I say that we don't stress about this and enjoy learning Mandarin.

Posted on: The Hunan Accent
May 20, 2015 at 3:10 AMMy language partner, who lives in Beijing, confuses the "zh" "ch" "sh" and "r". He's a young lad going to school, but in the 4 years that he has lived in Beijing, he has picked up that type of accent. Our conversations are always interesting, since I'm still new and don't always know if he's saying 是 shì or 四 sì. Good practice though. Toughens the listening skills.

May 13, 2015 at 1:26 AMGreat lesson! Great because I never knew that there was a second xū. This is a video that I will definitely watch again until I am fully confident in the use of xū and xū yào and so on. Thanks again.
