June 30, 2011 at 4:10 AMThey're similar, but 不会吧 (bú huì ba) is often used for something the speaker finds incredible, in the sense that it is very unexpected, whereas 不可能 (bù kěnéng) is often something that the speaker really thinks is not possible.
Does that make sense?

June 21, 2011 at 7:00 AMThat would be a literal translation, perhaps, but it doesn't really convey what the sentence is trying to say. Literally, it's "I hear and it makes me confused," but obviously we wouldn't say that in natural English. Hence, "I'm confused."

When I originally conceived of the idea about centering a Qing Wen on "strong," I had conversations with both native English speakers and native Chinese speakers, and the examples just kept coming. I realized that it made sense to divide the topic into two episodes, one focusing on more concrete examples, and the other more abstract.
