We'll have to do some research before answering all those questions, but I think telemarketing could definitely be a good topic for Intermediate or Upper Intermediate lesson...

Thanks! I don't think I've ever been called "a scream" before, but I guess I have mostly the dialogue content and my co-hostess to thank for that... :)

Oh no, we have to do imaginary numbers now?? That's a little scary...
But just to show my good will, I'll tell you this: in Chinese they're 虚数 (xūshù).
Yikes, I thought this was a Newbie lesson...

John, don't feel left out, I would like to hear your high testosterone voice with JP's pedant's voice, it would be a fun dialogue.
"High testosterone voice"? Ha ha, I've never heard that one before...

If a website is blocked, you can say:
被封了 (bèi fēng le)
被封杀了 (bèi fēngshā le)

Chinese people typically just say "YouTube."

August 5, 2008 at 1:57 AMI've used a similar strategy before... If someone has your number but doesn't even know you're name, there's no reason to talk to them, no matter what they say.
(Of course, just because they know your name, doesn't mean they're worth talking to either...)

No, it should be the same. Consider it a little technical slip-up on the part of your host... :(

Oh, that voice... Yeah, I remember it. I always thought of it as more of a "used car salesman voice." Or something. Not sure what!
