pretzellogic,

Yes, this is a basic overview of how the process works in China, although we didn't go into the details of how it works differently for foreigners.  Let me refer you to this excellent (and up-to-date) blog post: How To Start A Business In China -- WFOE. (I think I got this wrong in the podcast... WFOE = Wholly Foreign-Owned Entity.)

For foreigners, there are four options to starting a business in China: Wholly Foreign Owned Entity (WFOE), Representative Office, Joint Venture, and Hong Kong company [source].

Please don't use this information as a basis for your business plans, but this lesson will definitely help you get started with the necessary vocabulary.  A bit of Googling will turn up a wealth of information.

eupnea63355,

Wow, thanks!  I'll do my best to keep doing that!

genebildisking and jianpuzhai,

Thanks a lot!

I just got back from Beijing on Sunday night.  I was surprised to find the hotel 被子 (bèizi) I used no more 厚 (hòu) than the one I was in Shanghai.  It's because The North Has Central Heating.  Big difference!

And for Premium and above subscribers, the word 滑水 is also in the Vocabulary section (first word under supplementary vocab).

我们ChinesePod老师觉得这个小学生讲得怎么样?很普通吗?还是有口才?

changye,

Wow, that's cheap!  I don't want to publicly state the amount on my electricity bill, but let me just say it is a bit higher than 100 RMB!

martyzcp,

You're right, it does sound kind of like "na3".  You sometimes hear "na3" instead of "na3r", but I think in this case the "r" just got swallowed a bit.

In any case, it's not some kind of slang you need to be learning. Keep using 哪儿 or 哪里 and you'll be fine!

bodawei,

Yes, you're right, Alien is the real classic, but it's just so boring (slow-moving) by today's standards, and once you know the premise, it kind of ruins the whole effect.

Aliens, on the other hand, is my favorite sci-fi action flick of all time. :)

ChinesePod has always sought a proper balance, in many ways. It's true that we've had more PG-13 content then usual lately. You can expect the balance to shift back the other way now. We're not turning "yellow" over here.

The show really was supposed to be about 次, 遍, and 趟.  Any examples we give are just to make the concepts more memorable.  If you have any questions about those, by all means, let us have them.

jianxuexi,

That's strange. Are you using the "auto" feature?  Are you using the correct/incorrect buttons at the bottom, and/or the arrows on the sides?
