I was really impressed with the Guangzhou subway. The Beijing subway was not as nice. Here in Dalian, the subway has been under construction for years, no exact date on when it'll open.

I heard that 随便 can go either way, depending on your tone of voice. I tend to use 都可以 to indicate that I trust my friend's judgement.

In 2012 I've had to show my passport for every train ticket but one. My friend and I took the high speed train from Zhuhai to Guangzhou. We had to show our passports, paid 44 kuai apiece ( for first class ) got a private compartment with a great view out of the window. I was able to get some really great shots from there. I love taveling by train in China.

All my cab drivers like to talk on the CB in 大连话，which I don't understand a word of. I talk to them in 普通话，they answer me in 大连话。太麻烦。
