The reason I say that the US is scary is that I've lived here for almost 50 years. I've fought for this country , worked in this country , done my best to be a good American and a good neighbor. I've watched helplessly as this country got worse every year. There are vast stretches of urban decay where it isn't safe for me to go because I wasn't born the right color. More and more guys like me who work hard have nothing to show for it. 30 years ago it would have taken years of drinking to get a guy in my age group into the situation that I'm in. and I'm not alone, I talk to guys every day who say pretty much the same thing.
I used to dream about having a little ranch up in Montana, then I downgraded that dream to running a modestly successful business and owning my own home. Now I dream of getting my hands on a passport and a plane ticket.
