This is why I rarely come to the comments. All I'm learning is how to cut and paste to a translation program to find out what the other elementary level students are saying. Thanks anyway.

I'm at new elementary level, so this was beyond me, but I really wanted to tune in for the cultural content as well as just hear the language being spoken in a more casual, less didactic manner. Very entertaining and informative, and of course I can certainly pick up a few words here and there. Okay, play time is over, back to my usual level (which I also enjoy).

By the way, I used to hear the term (in Cantonese) that translates as "foreign ghost," truly a derogatory and exclusionary term.

Thank you for showing the hand gestures, which I was interested in. When Carly explained that the 9 is one less than 10, so one finger was held open, that helped me see what 7 and 8 were: three fingers out, two fingers out, respectively. So now I just have to remember 6 (mahalo, according to people on Hawai'i!; great gesture). Then 7 has three fingers out from the fist, 8 has two fingers out from the fist, 9 has one out from the fist, 10 is the fist.

( The Chinese 8 stands for 2 in Europe, though. :) )

In the grammar section, there is this:

过了这个村就没这个店了

and the translation is

"This is your last chance to get this great deal!"

Very funny. Seriously, what is going on here?

Thank you for all the vocab. How would I say I have allergies, like hay fever; and then allergies, like I'm allergic to penicillin or some other medication?
