January 13, 2021 at 12:53 AMThis is a very good question! 一 is almost always pronounced as [yī] except when we say the number 1 in addresses or phone numbers. We pronounce it as [yāo] because 一 sounds very similar to 七, which is 7, and this might cause some confusion.
