Newbie form Ireland with Chinese wife

Hi all, Was just browsing and found a link to this website. Looks like it could help me improve. I'm married to a Chinese woman and want to improve my Chinese. Spent a year as TEFL teacher in Shijiazhuang and have the basics and good pronunciation but haven't found the right learning techniques so hopefully this will do the trick. Wish me luck.

Good luck, prephil!

It can be tough to maintain focus and motivation levels when you are not living in a Chinese-speaking country.

However, if you can maintain a regular input of Chinese, through listening to ChinesePod lessons and other sources that interest you, and ensure that you review and practice all you're learning, you'll find yourself progressing well - I have no doubt!

I think you have a great head start with having your wife around. She can help you build on the basics - just take every chance to practice with her!

If you need to practice with a professional teacher, though, do feel free to chat to our team about our teacher services.
