Hi bodawei

I guess there might be several "birthplace of New China", as is often the case in China. The other day I read an interesting news article on the dispute about 李白故里. They say there are three possible birthplaces of 李白.

Yes, like 金刚山 Jingangshan, another 'revolutionary cradle'.

但河北需要西柏坡，有很少的地方， 对吧？ (Hebei needs Xibaipo - it has little else!)

Most of those great poets were nomads, failures with rather dodgy backgrounds, hey?

Ha ha. Sorry every one - I don't want anyone losing face over this.  The answer is 西柏坡 Xi1bai3po1, a small village in Hebei where the CCP leadership had their final 会议 huiyi (meeting) before declaring the new peoples' republic of China.  

It is a famous saying 'New China Proceeds From Here'.  Because they considered a number of key symbols for new China at this meeting.
